The Life of a Publisher

My latest title, “Regenerative Learning”, will become available to the general public on a date TBC, but probably sometime in the Autumn.

However, one of the contributors to that book, Dr Gunter Pauli, was scheduled to speak at an event in Dubai at which the Secretary of State of the Vatican, Cardinal Pietro Parolin, was also speaking.

Dr Pauli let me know that, if I could get the book to him in Dubai by March the 15th, he could arrange to hand the book over to the Secretary of State in person.

That involved fast-tracking the editing and production of the book, and its uploading to KDP, so that a special printing could be run off – of 5 copies only, as the book is not yet available to the public!

Then I had to arrange to have the books flown to Dubai, on a date sufficiently early, so that they could arrive there by the 15th.

As I was not confident that the courier could get the books to Dubai in time, I searched around for someone in London who might also be flying to the conference in Dubai and willing to take the books with him, and got 5 extra copies printed, to be couriered to him too. Sadly, those books did NOT reach the gentleman in London before he flew out.

But the courier did get the book to Dubai in time 🙂

So here is a photo of Dr Pauli (the tall man in the middle in the blue suit) explaining the book to the Secretary of State.

Also another photo of the Secretary of State with a book in his hand.

The lady in the photos is Ms Reem bin Tamim, the Director of the Zayed Foundation.

These photos were taken on board the Porrima, an experimental ship that runs on solar and hydrogen.

Very appropriate for a book on the theme of Regenerative Learning, don’t you think?
